SAMARIA - SEBASTIA
Church of St. John
The church was built during the Crusader's time at about 1160
AD in reference to John the Baptist.
Built on the site of a ruined 5th century church, it contains two tomb chambers.
The prophets Elisha and Obadiah are believed to be buried here, along with the head of John the Baptist - the prophet Yahya to the Muslims.
The Nabi Yahya Mosque is on the east side of the square.
